I worked as a design project manager for nearly ten years at CERES Environment Park in Melbourne. In that role – in collaboration with co-managers Neil Faragher, Bryce Gaton, team leader Noel Blencowe, education manager Judy Glick, site manager Nick Curmi, and a team of incredible teachers, engineers, scientists – I managed a range of zero emissions demonstration projects funder by the Australian Government. These projects were designed to show the technologies which could help Australia become carbon emission free within ten years. They included urban agriculture projects, aquaculture, stormwater collection and filtration, composting and a solar thermal (heat) powered cafe concept.

The greenhouse above is part of a shipping container based aquaponics system which I developed with Aquaponics experts Dr Wilson Lennard. The project explored the potential for intensive urban farms based on aquaponics and hydroponics.

The solar thermal dish on the left was one of the more ambitious projects created by our team. Based upon the famous Scheffler design, it was intended as a heat source for powering an organic Rankine cycle engine, and providing heat for a solar thermal powered cafe.

In 2015 I was awarded an Australian Design Honours for my work in sustainability design.
