Projections installation for Smart Illumination Festival, Dogo, Japan, 2014

I produced drawings, paper cuts and projectons during a story telling residency in the city of Dogo, Ehime prefecture in Japan. This project aimed to engage the local community to imagine and design a future bathing house which floats in the sky above a flooded city of 3014. The theoretically plausible flying bathhouse uses geothermal heated balloons for flotation. The project was presented as a series of large-scale public projections around the city for the Dogo Art Festival.

The project’s workshops focussed around re-designing this building - Japan’s oldest onsen, the bathouse used as the reference for the movie the movie Spirited Away.
